ActInSpace hackathon

ActInSpace is an international hackathon organised by the French Space Agency (CNES), with support from the European Space Agency (ESA), in which participants worldwide have 24 hours to develop innovative solutions to a set of proposed challenges in space technology for a variety of applications. Together with my friends Noa Midzic and Astrid Canal, we competed as team Cinderwatch in ActInSpace 2026, winning first place in the regional competition in Rennes, France. We addressed the challenge “Green Space: Protecting the Forest from Above,” with scientific advisory from Prof. Sander Veraverbeke, an Earth system scientist at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and a world-leading expert in forest fire research. We are continuing to develop the solution and will share our code and progress as open source once finalised.
